Teaching

teachingteaching highly capable learners
I find teaching art a rewarding experience based on understanding, patience, and respect. Art helps people solve problems by putting them in touch with their imagination. Art develops confidence, teamwork and critical thinking that is applicable to many subjects.

I am currently aTeaching Artist at Allied Arts of Whatcom County and BellinghamART (a private school).

Inviting teacher specific subjects, also teaching at enrichment days, highly capable learner events and PTA programs.

Leading art workshops in the public arena at museums, libraries and community events. Completed a two month residency, teaching 500 students how to watercolor and create a public mural. Instructed a three month residency at another school, teaching 700 students how to paint sumi-e style as well as a session making impressionist paintings using primary colors.

Individually mentored teen students through "Arts Alive!" a program partnered by Allied Arts, 4-H and Washington State University. Attended and taught at Arts Day in Tacoma. Taught at the Community Center on Lopez Island and ready for more.
